2021 Election

This year, an election may be held for the position of Councillor in the Summer Village of Itaska Beach.  There are 3 positions of Councillor, for a four year term.

Notice of Nomination Day
Nomination Day will be held on July 24 from Noon until 3:30 p.m at the Summer Village of Sundance Beach Community Hall.  The returning officer is Shawna Dennis.

If required, Election Day will be on August 21st at the Sundance Community Hall.

Eligibility to be a candidate in Summer Villages: In order to qualify for nomination as a councillor, the person must (LAEA Sec 21):

  • Be eligible to vote in the election (LAEA Sec 47)
    • Is at least 18 years old
    • Is a Canadian citizen
    • Is named on a certificate of title as the person who owns property within the summer village OR is the spouse or adult interdependent partner of a person on certificate of title within the summer village
  • A person is not required to be a resident of the summer village but must be entitled to vote in the election and have been a resident of Alberta for the 12 consecutive months immediately preceding election day. (LAEA Sec 12)
  • Is not otherwise ineligible

Senate & Referendum Vote

If your primary residence is within the Summer Village, you will have an opportunity to vote in the anticipated provincial election for Senate Nominees, or on any provincial referendum question.  There will be a polling station at the Sundance Beach Community Centre on October 18th from 10 am to 7 pm.
