Big Bin Cancelled
Posted on Tuesday April 28, 2020 at 09:58AM
Council has considered all aspects of the current pandemic situation and public health recommendations and in the best interests of all concerned, have concluded that the big bin event for the May long weekend will not be offered.
Council will continue to monitor Provincial advice and attempt to organize a big bin event at another time of the year and will announce same through our website and by physical signage. This will be subject to availability of contractors to provide service at that time, and once new guidelines or relaxation of current restrictions and recommendations are in place.
For now, if you do have extra garbage:
- it can be taken to the Leduc Landfill, they take payment onsite, or
- hire a local contractor to take it away for you, or
- take extra waste to the Sunnybrook Waste Transfer Station. (you need a card as described below to use this option):
In order to access the Sunny Brook Transfer Station, you must have an access card. Cards will allow the holder a one-time access to the Sunnybrook Solid Waste Transfer Station only. The attendant at the station will collect the card as payment for the services offered at the transfer station. The access cards may be purchased from the Summer Village Office at a cost of $20 per card. To receive a card(s), submit a cheque to the "Summer Village of Itaska Beach" and mail it into the Summer Village office or send an e-transfer. Card(s) will be mailed back to you.
There have been a number of changes to this summer's activities and events. Please check the Covid Response Page for more details.
