2018 By-ElectionRalph Johnston submitted his resignation as a Councillor for the Summer Village of Itaska Beach, as of December 1, 2017. This creates a vacancy on Council. A by-election will be held for the position of one Councillor in the Summer Village of Itaska Beach. The term would be until the summer of 2021.
Notice of Nomination DayNomination Day will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m at the Sundance Beach Community Centre. The returning officer is June Boyda.

Eligibility to be a candidate in Summer Villages: In order to qualify for nomination as a councillor, the person must (LAEA Sec 21):
- Be eligible to vote in the election (LAEA Sec 47)
- Is at least 18 years old
- Is a Canadian citizen
- Is named on a certificate of title as the person who owns property within the summer village OR is the spouse or adult interdependent partner of a person on certificate of title within the summer village
- A person is not required to be a resident of the summer village but must be entitled to vote in the election and have been a resident of Alberta for the 12 consecutive months immediately preceding election day. (LAEA Sec 12)
- Is not otherwise ineligible
